Individual Supervision
Good supervision is more than a professional requirement. It is a dedicated space to pause, reflect, think deeply about your practice and reconnect with the kind of practitioner you want to be.
I offer individual social work supervision that is warm, thoughtful and grounded in the realities of practice. Whether you are looking for ongoing professional supervision, working towards or maintaining AASW accreditation, navigating a challenging role, or simply wanting a reflective space outside your workplace, supervision is tailored to you, your practice context and where you are in your professional journey.
Meeting your AASW supervision requirements
For social workers maintaining AASW accreditation, annual continuing professional development requirements include at least 10 hours of professional supervision each year, with a minimum of 5 hours undertaken as individual supervision.
Supervision can be arranged regularly throughout the year or structured around your professional needs and accreditation requirements. Wherever you are practising, the aim is to create a space that feels useful, curious and genuinely supportive of your growth.
External supervision is available to practitioners online throughout Australia.
“ShMaya’s supervision has been invaluable to me across a wide variety of professional contexts, from working in government and non-government sectors through to establishing and navigating private practice. I have always valued ShMaya’s depth of knowledge, thoughtful guidance and social justice approach. ”
Areas of particular experience
My practice draws on extensive experience across rural and remote services, including work across Northern Australia and with First Nations communities; mental health and private practice; and headspace and youth mental health services. I understand that each of these settings brings its own complexities — from working across distance and professional isolation, to navigating multidisciplinary systems, cultural contexts, organisational expectations and the particular challenges of holding clinical responsibility in private practice.
I particularly welcome social workers working in rural and remote communities who may value having a supervisor who understands the realities of practice beyond metropolitan service systems.
