Specialist supervision for headspace - Clinicians & Leaders

I have a longstanding connection with headspace and a particular interest in providing external supervision to clinicians, clinical leads and managers working within the headspace model.

I spent much of my 14 years with Queensland Health working within Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), including as an Advanced Social Worker, Clinical Lead and Team Leader, before progressing to senior mental health leadership roles.

Alongside my CYMHS experience, I have worked as a private practitioner at headspace Cairns, been involved in CYMHS–headspace liaison and the headspace Cairns Consortium, and have provided external supervision to social workers within headspace centres for the past eight years.

This combination gives me a strong understanding of both the headspace model and the broader child and youth mental health system, including the interface between primary and specialist mental health services.

I understand the particular cohort headspace clinicians work with—the complexity of adolescent and emerging-adult development, mental health and psychosocial presentations, risk, family and relationship dynamics, identity, transition to adulthood, and the importance of understanding the young person within their broader social and cultural context.

Supervision across the headspace workforce

I provide external supervision for social workers and other clinicians, from early-career practitioners through to experienced clinicians, as well as clinical leads, team leaders and managers.

For social workers working within multidisciplinary headspace teams, supervision can also provide dedicated space for maintaining and developing a strong social work professional identity and lens within the broader multidisciplinary model and the headspace Good Care Framework.

My extensive CYMHS and headspace experience means supervision can include the realities of working across service boundaries, managing complexity and risk, navigating referral and escalation pathways, and working collaboratively with families, schools, health services and other systems surrounding a young person.

External supervision is available online to headspace clinicians and leaders throughout Australia.

If your organisation has approved external supervision, please feel free to use the contact form to get started. As headspace services are delivered by different lead agencies across Australia, I understand that each organisation may have its own processes for supervision agreements, approvals and invoicing. I’m very happy to complete your organisation’s supervision agreement or other required documentation if you have one, but you don’t need to organise this before making contact. Simply send through your details and we can work through any organisational requirements together.
